The average cost of a gallon of gas continues to go up across the state.
Triple-A reports that the average cost of a gallon of gasoline in Pennsylvania is $2.86 as of this morning. That represents a three cent jump from yesterday, an eight-cent increase from last week, an 18-cent increase from last month and a 22-cent increase from last year at this time. The national average also went up to $2.57 a gallon. Triple-A expects that gas prices will soon be more expensive than the highest price of 2020. Despite low demand, the cost of crude oil continues to increase by as much as $5 a barrel. At the end of last week, the cost of crude oil was at $59.47 a barrel. If the trend continues, the cost of crude oil will go over the most expensive price of 2020 by the end of the week, which was $63.27.
Indiana County’s average gas price is $2.92 a gallon. The lowest gas price average in our region remains with Westmoreland county, as their average is $2.83 a gallon. Armstrong County’s average is $2.87 a gallon, while Clearfield County is at $2.89 a gallon. Jefferson County ties Indiana County at $2.92 a gallon, and Cambria County has the highest gas price in the region with $2.93 a gallon.
In Indiana Borough and White Township, gas prices this morning range from $2.85 to $2.95 with most stations at $2.95. Shelocta’s gas price is $2.85 a gallon. Gas prices in Clymer, Homer City and Blairsville are at $2.95 a gallon.
