With the theme of the 1906 World’s Fair and a hot air balloon, the United Way 2023 Fundraising campaign kicked off Friday night at Mack Park.
With over 250 people in attendance, the annual campaign started on a very positive note. Even though the reveal was delayed due to windy conditions for the hot air balloon from ReMax realty and Rich Gallo, Co-Chairs James Rickard and Joyce Sharman dropped a rope ladder revealing this year’s campaign goal of $705,615.57.

The reveal almost did not happen as conditions were windy until sunset, which made it dangerous for the balloon to go up, but the wind died down around sunset to allow the reveal to happen.
Rickard talked about why they chose that particular number for their campaign goal.
Sharman also explained the theme for this year, which is “Kindness Creates Hope”.
