At their meeting Tuesday night, Blairsville Borough Council voted to advertise next year’s budget and it contains no tax increase.
The budget balances out to $4,595,542 with revenues and expenditures each coming in at $2,297,771. Borough Manager Jody Poorbaugh was happy to see the budget split evenly and she detailed what kind of projects the borough will use the funds for next year.
The budget will go up for final approval next month.
In other business, police Chief Lou Sacco announced that $7,000 was donated to the police force to upgrade equipment, and a portion of that went towards replacing bulletproof vests. Members with the Blairsville Rotary presented a check for $4,000, while $2,000 came from InFirst Bank and another $1,000 came from Rick and Willa Shoemaker. Lastly, council approved renaming WyoTech Park to River Valley Park by a 4-to-1 vote.
