For the first time in many weeks, the rate of new cases of flu in Pennsylvania went down in the weekly report by the State Health Department, but it remains very high. 59,841 new lab-confirmed cases were identified, an increase of 12,483. That’s significantly lower than the increase of 16,669 the week before. However, deaths from flu more than doubled, rising from 31 this flu season to 67. The number was seven last week.
In Indiana County, the rate of new lab-confirmed flu cases dropped considerably. There were 337 new cases of flu last week, an increase of 34 a week after it increased by 94.
RSV cases in Indiana County were up to 108, an increase of 7 after they’d risen by 26 the week before. The state rate for RSV cases is also slowing down. There have been 40,334 cases of RSV across Pennsylvania this season. Last week, 4,723 new cases were confirmed.
