State Senator Joe Pittman has issued a statement praising the recent signing of an affiliation agreement for Armstrong Center for Medicine and Health to join the Pennsylvania Mountains Care Network.
The network’s main goal is to preserve, enhance and provide quality healthcare for the Indiana-Armstrong-Jefferson tri-county region. It is also designed to create synergies, cost-efficiencies and sustainability for ACMH, Indiana Regional Medical Center and Punxsutawney Area Hospital. Each entity would remain their local identities and operate as two community non-profit corporations, and each facility will retain its existing staff, volunteers and employees, but there will be the sharing of some human resources.
In a statement, Senator Pittman said that he was pleased with this news, calling the agreement “a win for local residents, a win for our region and a win for the future of rural healthcare,” and added that “Their partnership will strengthen access to health care services within our area and greatly benefit our region now and for years to come.”
Pittman’s district encompasses all three hospitals that are a part of the PMCN.
