The 2024 Primary election is in the books, and Indiana County followed the state on many of the statewide races.
In the race for the Democratic nomination for Attorney General, Eugene DePasquale won Indiana County with 3,019 votes in a landslide. For the state, DePasquale had over 297,000 votes. His nearest opponent in both Indiana County and across the state was Jack Stollsteimer with only 547 votes in Indiana County and roughly 145,000 votes across the state. DePasquale will run against David Sunday, who won the statewide race with about 70% of the Republican Vote. Sunday also won Indiana County with 5005 votes.
In the Auditor General race, Malcolm Kenyatta won the statewide race with over 465,000 votes, but lost Indiana County to Mark Pinsley. Kenyatta will take on Republican nominee Timothy Defoor, who ran unopposed.
In the state treasurer race, Erin McClelland won the statewide Democrat nomination in a close race with over 420,000 votes. McClelland also won in Indiana County with 3,433 votes over Ryan Bizzaro.
For state house and senate races, Senator Joe Pittman, and Representatives Jim Struzzi and Brian Smith were unopposed.
The only US Congress race in our area that was contested was the 14th district, where Ken Bach ran against Chris Dzadios. With nearly all the precincts across the state reporting in, Dzadios picked up 51.8% of the votes in the district. In Indiana County, Bach won Indiana county’s portion of the region, with over 63% of the vote.
All election results are unofficial until the counties certify the votes, which could take a few weeks.
