After a rough start to his season, David Bednar has thrown in three straight games for the Pirates and Shelton says he’s pitching like his old self.
For the first time this season, the Pirates will use an opener tonight in a bullpen game. Left-hander Josh Fleming (1-0, 1.74 ERA) will get the start against Milwaukee’s right-hander Bryse Wilson, the former Pirate (2-0, 3.29 ERA). The airtime is 6:15 on WCCS.
Indianapolis will play at Omaha this afternoon at 12:05 with Paul Skenes taking the mound for the Indians. He still has not allowed a run this season in four starts. Skenes struck out eight and threw 34 of his 65 pitches over 100 miles per hour the last time out against St. Paul.
ALTOONA CURVE
Altoona had only two hits, a single and double by Aaron Shackelford, as they were shut out by Akron, 4-0. The Curve will throw Bubba Chandler against the Rubber Ducks tonight.
