Indiana County District Attorney Robert Manzi has issued a statement concerning the sentencing yesterday of a Brush Valley man who sexually assaulted a child.
48-year-old David Gene Crawford was ordered to serve up to 50 years in state prison for three counts each of rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and single counts of statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, indecent assault of someone under 13 and incest. The incidents were reported to the ChildLine hotline, which triggered an investigation by state police, who discovered that the victim had been assaulted over a two-year period. Crawford also threatened the victim if they reported the abuse to anyone. In November of 2023, Crawford entered guilty pleas to the charges for which he was sentenced to.
Manzi said that the victim was very strong throughout the case and was thankful that the victim saw justice. He also thanked the state police for their thorough investigation.
While Crawford may spend the rest of his natural life in prison, he will also be classified as a sexually violent predator for the rest of his life.
