The WPIAL released its updated alignments for boys and girls’ basketball for the next two seasons on Tuesday, and both Indiana teams find themselves in the 5A mix.
Andy Lansberry will face Armstrong, Hampton, Kiski Area, Penn Hills, Plum, and Shaler Area in his first season next year in Section 5A 2. Hampton was the only team to join Indiana in moving up from 4A 1 last year.
Meanwhile, Coach Michael Franciscus and the Indiana girls’ basketball team will stay in Class 5A but will move over and join Greater Latrobe, Greensburg-Salem, Kiski, McKeesport, Penn Trafford, and West Mifflin in Section 5A 2. The Indians are coming off a season that saw a section 5A 1 championship and an appearance in the state playoffs.
