One of the suspects in the 2020 shooting at the Carriage House Apartments was convicted in Indiana County Court on Friday.
A jury found 22-year-old Terrion Gates of Johnstown guilty of second-degree murder, robbery and conspiracy to robbery. Nearly two years ago, Gates accompanied three co-defendants to rob 20-year-old Jadeyn Wright of Pittsburgh during an alleged purchase of marijuana. In a news release from District Attorney Robert Manzi, the three co-conspirators had only planned to rob Wright, but Gates pulled out a gun he brought with him and fired the fatal shot that killed Wright. He was arrested in Altoona in March of 2021.
It took the jury about two-and-a-half hours to return the guilty verdict. Gates faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. His sentencing hearing is set for November 15th at 8:30.
Twp others involved in the case, 21-year-old Isabella Edmonds of Indiana and 25-year-old Delmar Chatman of Johnstown, are awaiting further court action. Jury selection for 24-year-old Isaiah Moore of Philadelphia is set for October 21st.
