Two animal rescuers from the Derry Township side of Blairsville are facing charges after agents removed cats from their facility.
More than 200 cats were taken last month from a Blairsville mobile rescue center operated by the Cat Aid Network. Reports say the facility had no litter boxes and urine and feces were found everywhere. Some of the cats rescued from the mobile center were found to have suffered permanent damage from long untreated upper respiratory issues.
Kimberly Rose and Pamela Curry have been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, torture and neglect. Authorities said that 87 cats were sickened, and 13 cats died due to their neglect. The two are free on $7,000 unsecured bail each. Rose has waived her preliminary hearing while Curry is due for her hearing on October 23rd in front of Judge Kelly Tua Hammers in Westmoreland County.
