The Pirates lost their fourth straight game last night in their series opener against the Reds. Joe Block has the story.
A couple of plays went awry last night for the Pirates’ defense, but manager Donnie Kelly says they came out of the “aggressive mindset” he wants the team to have in all aspects of the game.

The Pirates say pitcher Jared Jones met with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Keith Meister about his injured elbow yesterday. Nothing was decided but “surgery is on the table,” according to the Bucs.
After claiming infielder/outfielder Michael Helman off waivers from the Cardinals last week, the Pirates placed him back on waivers and he was claimed yesterday by the Texas Rangers.
