The Penguins open a five-game road trip tonight at Carolina. The Pens are in second place in the Metro Division, eight points behind the Hurricanes and a point ahead of the third-place New York Islanders. Based on winning percentage, the Penguins have the toughest remaining schedule in the NHL and this road trip demonstrates that. It starts in Carolina tonight, with stops in Vegas on Thursday, Utah on Saturday, and Colorado on Monday before it wraps up back in Carolina next Wednesday.
Good news for Penguins fans…Sidney Crosby is on the road trip and could return as early as tonight, according to reports from several sources. However, there is no injury update on forward Justin Brazeau, who sat out Sunday’s win over the Bruins.
Defenseman Jack St. Ivany was activated yesterday and sent to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for a conditioning assignment. He is returning from January hand surgery.
Tonight’s game airs at 6 o’clock, with faceoff shortly after 7 on 92.5 FM, U92.
