Paul Skenes threw four scoreless innings and Oneil Cruz and Spencer Horwitz both homered as the Pirates beat the Blue Jays in spring training baseball, 8-3. Brandon Lowe had three hits and Bryan Reynolds walked three times.

The Pirates announced Saturday that top prospect Konnor Griffin has been assigned to minor league camp and manager Donnie Kelly indicated that Griffin will start the season in Indianapolis. Griffin batted .171 in sixteen Grapefruit League games with four home runs.
Outfielder Johstynxon Garcia was optioned to Indianapolis despite leading all Pirates in hits with 15 this spring. he hit .405 in spring training. Utility man Tyler Callihan was also sent to minor league camp along with veteran infielder Alika Williams.
