Pennsylvania’s Fire Weather Awareness Week kicks off today (March 23rd) and runs through Friday (March 27th) this year! Brush fires, or wildfires, are a problem for Indiana County volunteer fire departments every year, and Fire Weather Awareness Week is designed to help reduce the number of brush fire instances, which currently stands at 17 in the county as of this morning.
Follow #wildfiresafetypa for fire weather information from the U.S. National Weather Service (NWS), PA Emergency Management Agency, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, U.S. Forest Service – Allegheny National Forest, and Pennsylvania Game Commission this week.
