Several celebrities are calling for the “immediate closure” of the ICE Detention Center in Dilley, Texas.
Brandi Carlile, Gracie Abrams, John Legend, Madonna are among the stars who have endorsed the letter addressed to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The statement reads “children held in immigration detention endure trauma, neglect, and conditions that violate basic standards of health, safety, dignity, and human rights.” It urges the federal government and CoreCiviv to close the facility “immediately” and “return children and families to the homes and communities they were taken from.”
