Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate remained unchanged over the month of April.
The statewide rate remained at 4.2% for the month, one tenth of a percentage point lower than the national rate for April. The rate went unchanged over the last 12 months.
Pennsylvania’s Civilian Labor Force, which is the number of people in the state working or looking for work, increased by 14,000 for the month to 6,607,000. While unemployment remained unchanged, employment accounted for the gain. The number of non-farm jobs went up by 10,700 to a record high of 6,198,800 in April, with the biggest gains seen in the professional and business services super sector (up 4500) while the biggest decline was in the leisure and hospitality area (down 2200).
