On Wednesday, the Indiana County Commissioners approved accepting a federal grant for a road project for Windy Ridge Business and Technology Park.
The project will create a road that will connect the park to Rustic Lodge Road. The grant will bring $1.5 million from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Economic Development Initiative. Byron Stauffer with the Office of Planning and Development said that the stars finally aligned for the county to receive the grant after five years.
When complete, the road is expected to open up an additional 31.39 acres for business development and expansions.
In connection with Windy Ridge, the commissioners approved entering into an agreement with Gibson-Thomas Engineering to provide design, permitting and related services for the project.
Commissioners also approved applications for Liquid Fuels funding for Ernest, Glen Campbell and Creekside boroughs for various projects including paving, resurfacing and other road rehab tasks.
