On Saturday, IRMC held the graduation program for its second class of Family Medicine residents at Sutton Hall’s Blue Room.
Dr. Amanda Vaglia, the program’s director, said she was amazed to see the amount of support for the seven graduates.
The seven graduates in this year’s class include Dr. Siriluk Fiorina, Dr. Amanda Kostryk, Dr. Tauseef Akhlaque, Dr. Hythem Bishtawi, Dr. Kelly Meyer, Dr. Gagandeep Brah and Dr. Cheslea Grey.
Akhlaque said that his situation was an unusual one as he had to go through medical school twice.
Meyer said that it was a full circle moment for her, as she had her residency in the same hospital she was born in.
It was also announced that next year’s residency program will expand to a total of eight for IRMC and an additional two residents at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
