A Clarksburg man was shot by State Troopers during an incident yesterday in Young Township.
State police say troopers were sent to 159 Valley Road at 11:45 AM for a disturbance involving 60-year-old Robert John Richard II. He was reportedly pointing an automatic rifle towards a neighboring home while the victim and his fiancée were inside. After troopers arrived, Richard allegedly shot directly at troopers. Officers returned fire, hitting him in the shoulder. He was taken into custody and first-aid was rendered until he was transported to Forbes Regional Medical Center for further treatment.
Richard is charged with attempted homicide, aggravated assault, assaulting a law enforcement officer, simple assault, reckless endangerment and possession of an instrument of crime. An arraignment hearing was held yesterday and bond was denied. No word yet on a preliminary hearing.
