IUP welcomed the start of the academic year with ceremonies this morning at Fisher Auditorium.
During his remarks, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said that the university is standing on more solid financial ground than in the recent past, and that the university is controlling its own destiny.

Driscoll also announced that there are two listening sessions coming up. One will be an open forum on the strategic direction for the university on September 14th, and one on October 16th that will serve as an “all hands workshop”. Drsicoll said this is part of an effort to communicate more about what is going on to the university community.
The program ended with a performance of “Amazing Grace” by the IUP Marching Band.
First year students moved in last weekend. This weekend, returning students will move in, and the first day of class is this Monday.
