A portion of Fire Academy Road near Luciusboro was closed as a vehicle caught fire last night.

Indiana County 911 sent the Homer City fire department and state police to the scene of the fire at 8:38 PM. Homer City Fire officials said on the department’s Facebook page that a bucket truck had caught fire and activated Coral-Graceton and Brush Valley fire departments to assist with manpower. Suppression efforts were delayed due to a live electrical wire. The truck took on severe damage and the intensity of the fire also damaged the road. Drivers are asked to exercise caution when going through the area until the road can be inspected by PennDOT and undergo repairs.
This was one of eighteen calls for service for first responders yesterday. The majority of those calls were for vehicle accidents in Indiana Borough and in White, Cherryhill, Burrell, North Mahoning, Armstrong and Washington townships.
