The River Valley School District is accepting applications for a new Citizens Finance Committee.
The formation of the committee is coming about amid ongoing public concern on the district’s financial health going into this school year after emergency fund transfers were made to pay off the 2025-26 Tax and Revenue Anticipation Note before the deadline and the district sought another $4 million TRAN for the current school year. The district is also working on a long-term solution that will improve the district’s financial health.
Local taxpayers have voiced concerns for about how district funds are managed and have prompted for broader state or department review. As part of that, the district will form the committee, which will have the purpose of providing community members with an opportunity to review, understand and provide input on the district’s financial operations, budgeting practices, long-term financial planning and responsible use of taxpayer resources.
Applications are due by September 14th and can be found on the district’s website.
