Thursday night, the Homer-Center School Board approved a modified school calendar for the 2026-27 school year.
The calendar sets the end of the school year for June 4th for both the elementary and high schools. Both schools saw delays at the start of the year due to the aspergillus spores found in the elementary school. While the high school was only delayed three days, the delay in the start of school for elementary students was eight days. District Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that students will attend class the day before Thanksgiving and on the Tuesday after Easter Break, but how they will make sure the elementary students get the required number of days still needs to be tweaked.
The board also approved a satisfactory evaluation of Cecere, which is the highest score he can receive for the assessment.
