Another credit is being issued to Pennsylvania-American Water customers as part of the PFAS settlement.
The utility company announced it has applied another $7.10 credit to customers water bills as part of the settlement with manufacturers of per- and polyfluroalkyl substances, better known as PFAS. The credit now brings the total settlement funds up to $44 per customer.
According to a statement, this follows previous PFAS settlement credits and reflects Pennsylvania American Water’s commitment to returning settlement proceeds directly to customers. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission approved the company’s PFAS Litigation Universal Credit Rider, which allows the company to provide the settlement proceeds to customers. The company remains in compliance with all PFAS drinking water standards and has completed PFAS treatment upgrades in several communities. Pennsylvania American Water plans to invest approximately $321 million in PFAS treatment projects across the Commonwealth through 2030.
