The Rite Aid in Blairsville is on a list of stores that will close soon.
The closures are part of a bankruptcy restructuring plan it is going through. Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in the last 12 months. After emerging from bankruptcy filed last September, it has continued to experience financial trouble from shrinking prescription profits, the changing retail and healthcare landscape and the numerous opioid-related lawsuits it has faced. Rite Aid is looking to streamline its operations and potentially find a buyer for its remaining stores.
There’s no firm date available for the closures, but it is expected to happen in the next few weeks. The Indiana store is not on the list. Along with the Blairsville store, locations in Punxsutawney, Nanty-Glo and Northern Cambria are also on the short list.
