Indiana County First Responders were busy late Friday morning with two reported garage fires within an hour of each other.
The first was reported at 10:06 this morning at 931 Glenwood Avenue in Glen Campbell Borough. Glen Campbell, Rossiter, Big Run, Commodore and Burnside fire departments were initially dispatched, with Cherry Tree, Hope and Mahaffey fire departments called in 10 minutes later to assist on-scene. Punxsutawney’s Central fire department was called out two minutes after that to standby for Rossiter. Fire officials believe that the fire was electrical in nature started by an e-Bike. The fire destroyed the garage, and it spread into the kitchen. No injuries were reported. Those affected by the fire are staying with relatives until the home can be restored.
The other fire was at 10:28 this morning at 50 Varner Lane in Pine Township. Pine Township, Cherryhill Township and Vintondale fire departments joined Black Lick Valley EMTs on-scene, with Nanty-Glo fire crews called in to assist.
Details on this fire have not been released.
