At a meeting this Wednesday morning, the Indiana County Commissioners approved a cooperation agreement concerning the future welcome center at the former First Commonwealth Bank at 6th and Philadelphia Streets.
The agreement is with the Indiana County Development Corporation for them to administer a $525,000 grant from the Keystone Communities Initiative. Theresa Bachy with the county office of planning and development talked about the specific parts of the project that the money will be used for.
The location will be the future home of the County Chamber of Commerce, Tourist Bureau and Downtown Indiana, Inc.
Commissioner Sherene Hess also announced that the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania is holding its monthly meeting in Indiana. The group will get a tour of some of the county facilities this week before holding its meeting. Hess is the current president of CCAP.
