Down in the minors, the Altoona Curve continued their hot start to the second half of the season with their sixth straight win and 9th win in ten games with a 5-1 victory over Harrisburg.
Omar Alfonzo was two-for-three with a home run in the second inning. Kervin Pichardo had a two-run homer in the fourth to build up a 3-0 lead. Pitcher Antoine Kelly allowed just four baserunners in five and two-thirds innings of work, notching six strikeouts before handing it over to the bullpen. Ryan Harbin remained unscored on, striking out three in one and one thirds innings before Justin Meis shut the door, picking up the save but giving up a run in the process.
The two teams play again tonight. Wilber Dotel will start for the curve.
