Indiana county’s first responders have had an active morning with two fires reported, and one of those calls affecting traffic this morning in White Township.
Indiana firefighters were sent out at 4:31 this morning to what was initially reported as a vehicle crash on Route 286 West. A tractor-trailer driver was travelling eastbound on 422 when he noticed the back end of the trailer’s wheels were on fire. He pulled off onto Route 286 near Walmart and disconnected the trailer, which would be destroyed. Tow vehicles are on-scene, and fire officials say the 422 off ramp to 286 closed for an indefinite period of time.
The other fire was reported at 12:39 this morning in Canoe Township on a portion of Central Street. Rossiter fire department was joined by Punxsutawney’s Central and Lindsey Fire Departments, the Big Run fire department and Punxsutawney EMS. Details on that fire have not been released.
