The Mavericks’ frontman Raul Malo is getting a big moral boost from fans amid his cancer battle.
In a post on social media, the singer’s wife Betty Malo emphasized the importance of their get-well cards and messages. She said he reads each one and they take in every word. Betty’s post featured a video showing a table full of cards, letters, and the whole family reading them together. Raul was first diagnosed in June 2024 and underwent surgery to remove a tumor on his liver, followed by surgery on his colon.
In an update, the singer revealed he had developed Leptomeningeal Disease, a form of cancer in the cerebrospinal fluid.
