Blairsville Borough Police are asking the community to help them identify a suspect in a theft case caught on a doorbell camera.
The theft was caught on camera and posted on the Blairsville Borough Police Facebook page on Wednesday. The suspect is seen strolling up to the home along South Brady Street, taking the package off the porch and leaving the scene on foot. The parcel reportedly contained pet food and toys.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-459-7555.
Police are also advising people to take care to protect themselves from “porch piracy”. They encourage proactive measures like installing security systems, motion-activated lights, using smart package delivery boxes or lockers on your porch, and request a signature on delivery.
Other tips they suggest is to time deliveries to when you will be home, use trackers and delivery notifications on your phone, giving specific instructions for delivery, shipping your package to an alternative location or asking a trusted neighbor to pick it up for you.
