From the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
UPDATE: Jefferson County is not yet included in the speed restriction. It is Ohio State line through Clarion County to the Jefferson County line at Exit #73: PA 949 – Corsica.
*****
Due to the severity of the winter storm PennDOT is temporarily reducing the speed limit to 45 miles per hour (mph) on Interstate 80 in Clarion and Jefferson counties.
The speed limit restriction is in place from the Ohio state line to Exit #73: PA 949 – Corsica. Speed limits are restricted to 45 mph for all vehicles, and commercial vehicles must move to the right lane.
Although PennDOT crews have been treating roadways, the department’s primary goal is to keep roads passable, and they will not completely free of ice and snow. PennDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until precipitation stops and roads are clear.
Restrictions are planned for certain vehicles during the storm, and will be communicated via variable message boards, the 511PA traveler information website and smartphone apps. Motorists can also sign up for personalized alerts on the website. Restrictions will be lifted as quickly as possible when conditions are safe. Restrictions can be changed based on conditions on the roadways, and reports from first responders, law enforcement and PennDOT personnel.
