Indiana County firefighters had an active Saturday, with dispatches for five brush fires, signaling the start of the brush fire season.
The first summons was at 9:29 AM for a brush fire along North Creek Road in West Mahoning Township. Plumville and Dayton firefighters responded.
At 12:10 PM, Cherry Tree firefighters were dispatched for a brush fire along Main Street in Emeigh, Cambria County.
Then, Indiana was sent to a brusher along East Pike Road in White Township at 12:44.
At 1:56 PM, the largest fire of the day was reported. Cherryhill Township was dispatched to Sportsman Road in Cherryhill Township, and minutes later, Clymer, Commodore, and Pine Township firefighters were summoned. Shortly after that, firefighters from Coal Run/McIntyre, Iselin, and Coral-Graceton joined them.
Finally, at 4:53 PM, Plumville and Marion Center firefighters were called to a brush fire along Fisher Road in South Mahoning Township.
