An Indiana woman was charged with DUI and other crimes connected to a crash in the borough on Sunday. Borough police said they were sent out at 2:08 AM to the 500 block of South 5th Street for the reported crash. While the driver fled the scene on foot, they found she hit a parked vehicle and her own vehicle was abandoned in a yard and disabled. Officers found the driver, identified as 21-year-old Liberty Beuckman, and determined that she was under the influence of alcohol. She was taken into custody then released to a sober person. Along with DUI, she was charged with careless driving and damage to unattended vehicles. A criminal complaint was filed with District Judge Tony Sottile’s office.
A man from Mercer County was arrested early Sunday morning after police found him intoxicated on 5th Street in Indiana. Borough Police charged 20-year-old Bennett Hayne of Greenville was found to be drunk to the point that he was a danger to himself and others. When police found him, they also discovered he had multiple fake ID’s on his person. He was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication, underage consumption of alcohol and carrying false identification.
