Indiana County first responders were sent out to the 12th brush fire call in the county this year on Sunday.
The call was reported at 7:52 on North 5th Street in White Township. Indiana Fire Association was on scene for the call. Indiana fire officials say the fire was possibly caused by an arcing power line in the Chevy Chase area. A small portion of brush was on fire, but it was quickly put out. Penelec crews were notified.
Indiana firefighters were also sent out to a reported structure fire on Grandview Avenue in Indiana Borough at 8:59 PM. Coral-Graceton and Homer City firefighters were ordered to the scene along with Citizen’s. Fire officials said it was a false alarm due to a controlled burn.
A crash was also reported Sunday night at 5:35 PM on Penn Street in Cherry Tree Borough. Cherry Tree firefighters were sent along with Citizen’s Ambulance and State Police. Officials said that a motorcycle hit a dog and the driver suffered blunt force injuries. He was flown from the scene to Penn Highlands hospital in Dubois as a precaution.
A second crash was reported at 9:06 PM on Route 56 East in East Wheatfield Township. Armagh/East Wheatfield firefighters, Citizen’s and State Police were sent to the scene. Details have not been released. Fire officials said two vehicles were involved and minor injuries were reported.
