The Homer Center School Board is continuing to negotiate with the union representing its support professionals.
Superintendent Ralph Cecere said that the negotiations have been amicable over a contract to replace the one that expires June 30th of this year. But as part of last night’s agenda, the board authorized the administration to seek request for proposals from outside agencies for food service, custodial and cleaning, and paraprofessional services. Cecere says that if the negotiations result in a new contract with the support professionals, the RFP’s will be withdrawn.
He added that if they do hire third party companies for those services, they will encourage hiring current district employees first.
In other business, the board approved a contract with Blue Sky Sign Company to replace the marquee outside the district campus at a cost of $31,881, with $10,000 of that covered through grant money.
