Emily Saliers, musician and one-half of the rock-folk duo the Indigo Girls, announced on Instagram over the weekend that she has been diagnosed with two incurable movement disorders: cervical dystonia and an essential tremor.
These conditions directly impact her neck muscles and singing voice. However, Sailers also said she is working with a vocal coach.
She and her bandmate, Amy Ray, kicked off a nationwide tour on Friday.
