Cambria County coroner Jeff Lees has confirmed that one person was fatally injured in a car crash that happened Wednesday afternoon near the Cambria-Indiana County line.
The call came in at 12:26 for a location along Route 422 East in Pine Township. Pine and Cherryhill fire crews were dispatched, along with Blacklick EMS and state police. Fire officials say that a passenger vehicle crossed the center line into the path of an opposing commercial vehicle. The commercial vehicle tried to swerve and miss the car but was unsuccessful.
The two people in the commercial vehicle were uninjured. One person in the passenger vehicle was transported by helicopter to Conemaugh Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.
The identity of that passenger and details on how the crash happened have not been released.
