The Pittsburgh Steelers are placing a rarely-used right-of-first-refusal tender on Aaron Rodgers, even though he is currently an unrestricted free agent, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This type of tender still allows Rodgers to explore and negotiate offers with other NFL teams if he chooses. However, Pittsburgh would have the option to match any contract he signs elsewhere.
If Rodgers doesn’t sign an offer sheet with another team by July 22, 2026—or the start of training camp, whichever comes first—the Steelers would keep exclusive negotiating rights with him.
Should Rodgers accept the tender, he’d earn about $15 million for the 2026 season, reflecting a 10% increase over his 2025 salary.
