The District 6 baseball and softball playoffs begin today with temperatures only expected to reach the forties across the region. The action features a number of games involving Heritage Conference schools.
In Class A baseball, eleventh-seeded Purchase Line takes a 5-13 record into its game at number six Blacklick Valley, which is 9-8.
Seventh-seed Conemaugh Valley is 8-11 as it plays host to number ten Ferndale, which is 7-11.
7-11 Portage, the number eight seed, will welcome number nine Williamsburg, which is 7-12.
In AAA baseball, eighth-seeded West Shamokin brings an 11-8 record into its game with number nine Central Cambria, which is 9-11.
In softball, Class A action today features number eight Northern Cambria, at 9-10, hosting number nine Portage, which is 10-11. The Mustangs won a couple of high-scoring games over the Colts in the regular season, 20-19 and 12-9.
Number seven United is 10-10 heading into its game against number ten Penns Manor, which is 5-9. The Lions beat the Comets 4-0 in their only meeting this season.
In Class AAA, 9-8 number eight seed Cambria Heights will host 11-8 number nine Tyrone.
