Indiana High School girls basketball coach Michael Franciscus has resigned after four seasons and a 75-30 record. The Indians were 22-6 last season, 11-1 in the WPIAL.

Indiana Area High School Girls’ Basketball Head Coach
Indiana, PA – Indiana Area High School is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual for the Indiana Area High School Girls’ Basketball program to provide instruction, practice activities as well as game management for the 2026-27 season(s). Other duties may include but are not limited to responsibilities in the area of offseason activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the planning & execution of practices
- Instruct student-athletes in game strategies, rules, and safety procedures.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and personal development.
- Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Organize and manage equipment, uniforms, and other team logistics in collaboration with team manager(s) and volunteers.
- Training fundamentals and supporting team conditioning and workouts
- Work collaboratively with assistant coaches, team manager(s), volunteers, and parents of players to support practice planning, game-day operations, and player development.
- Attend all practices, games, and team events, including pre-season meetings, tournaments, and end-of-season celebrations.
- Maintain loyalty, support of, and communication with the assistant coaches and program while assisting the student-athletes
- Support academic achievement and monitor student-athlete eligibility.
- Abide by all team, school, district, and league policies and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of PIAA basketball rules, fundamentals, and strategies of the game.
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or club level preferred.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes.
- Ability to work effectively with other coaches, team manager(s), volunteers, and parents of players to foster a collaborative team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience coaching girls’ basketball
- Knowledge of CPR & First Aid (or plans to obtain)
- Proven ability to build team cohesion and develop a competitive program.

Compensation:
$9,213 is the base compensation for the position. If it is a new hire, there is a 25% reduction for the first season.

Candidates will interview with members of the Indiana Area High School. Position will be forfeited if required background checks and clearances based on Indiana Area School District guidelines aren’t successfully completed.
