The Pirates’ woeful bullpen failed them again last night in the series opener in St. Louis.
Joe Block has the recap.
Manager Donnie Kelly liked the comeback by his hitters, but not the failures of the bullpen.
Starter Mitch Keller said he had good stuff and a good defense behind him, and that gave the Pirates a chance to win.
Reliever Evan Sisk gave up a two-run home run to the first batter he faced, Nolan Gorman. He said he left a fastball right over the heart of the plate.
Jhostynxon Garcia made his Pirates debut in right field and was 1-for-4, with a single in the eighth inning.
