A portion of Philadelphia Street will close as a diner is installed in the Downtown Indiana district.
Yesterday, Donna’s Diner made its way in two parts from Sharon towards its new home in Indiana. Today, the Diner will be brought in on Philadelphia Street and put in place in the 500 block of Philadelphia Street on the southern side of the block. Over the last few weeks, a foundation for the new diner has been laid next to Danny’s Tacos and Sweet Little Shop.
PennDOT announced that Philadelphia Street from 4th to 6th streets will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:00 AM until 4:00 this afternoon so the diner can be brought in and installed. Sidewalks on Philadelphia between South Colter and South Taylor avenues will also be closed off. Drivers are advised to use Water and School Streets to go around the area.
Donna’s was a part of the Sharon downtown area for nearly 25 years. It closed in March of 2025 as the former owners said they couldn’t recover from staffing shortages and supply chain issues that were part of the Covid-19 pandemic. They said they wanted the restaurant to go to someone who would maintain its retro-American stylings.
