The Board of Governors of the State System of Higher Education will meet on Wednesday and Thursday. The July quarterly meeting is typically when the System’s budget and tuition rates are set, a process sometimes complicated by uncertainty over the state budget situation. Last year, with the state still undecided on a spending plan, the board set a provisional tuition rate in July, then revised it in October to make keep tuition at a flat rate.
This year the State System requested a five percent increase in state funding, but Governor Josh Shapiro recommended a flat rate equal to the current year’s $626 million appropriation.
