IndiGo’s non-profit organization I-GO Mobility Works has announced a new program to help area veterans.
The county transportation authority has launched “Miles of Honor”. Starting today, vets between the ages of 18 and 64 who live in Indiana County may schedule rides through the program for grocery runs, medical appointments, community services and other destinations. The program was made possible through community support, including funding from the Marcello Charitable Trust, the Indiana County Endowment and Indiana Mid-Day Rotary.
In a statement, IndiGo Executive Director Brenda Hill said that “Transportation should never stand in the way of a Veteran accessing healthcare, maintaining employment, or meeting everyday needs.” She added that the program will honor Veterans by “helping them stay connected to the people, places and opportunities that matter.”
