A Kittanning man is due in Indiana County District Court today on charges of assaulting a child.
Court documents show 22-year-old Jakob Hankey faces felony counts of aggravated assault-attempts to cause serious bodily injury, aggravated assault where the victim was less than six years of age and child endangerment along with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and summary harassment for an incident on June 19th. An affidavit of probable cause stated that a two-month-old child slipped out of his hands and the child’s head hit a changing table. In later interviews with police, Hankey was uncooperative and gave conflicting reports. Hankey then stated that after he dropped the juvenile he picked them up, put them on the changing table and smacked them in the head with his hand.
Hankey is free on $250,000 bond. He is employed at the Armstrong County Jail but he was suspended without pay on June 22nd.
