A preliminary hearing is scheduled for today for a man charged in a shooting involving state troopers in Young Township.
State police were sent out to a home on Valley Road for a disturbance involving 60-year-old Robert Richard II of Clarksburg as he was reportedly pointing an automatic rifle at a neighboring house with two people inside. When troopers arrived, Richard shot at them. Officers returned fire, hitting him in the shoulder. He was taken into custody and taken to Forbes Regional Medical Center for treatment.
He is charged with attempted homicide, assault of a law enforcement officer, aggravated assault and other crimes. Bail was denied as he was deemed a flight risk. The hearing will go before District Judge Robert Bell Sr. at 11:15 this morning.
