Monday night, the Indiana School Board heard an update on the situation between ICTC and the River Valley School District.
While River Valley is still sending some students to ICTC, they have not paid the annual fees that other sending schools have to pay. This stems from a vote in 2024 for the district to leave the group of member schools. Currently, River Valley is appealing a court ruling that would require the district to remain in the consortium until 2037. Walter Schroth, who represents Indiana School District at the ICTC Board, said that last year’s fees come to over $460,000, and if the trend continues this year, it would mean a substantial loss to the technical school.
He said the ICTC board is considering legal action, but could not go into details as it is a legal matter.
In other business, the board welcomed this year’s group of Fulbright Scholars, and they also had a presentation of State House Proclamations from State Representative Jim Struzzi for Alex Gillham and Faith Gonchur for saving the life of Parker Brocious earlier this year at Mack Park Pool.
