The Pirates open their final home series of the season tonight with the first of three games against the St. Louis Cardinals, with the Bucs hoping to inch closer to a third place finish in the NL Central. At 79-77, the Pirates lead the Cardinals by three games for third place heading into the series, with six games left to play.

The play made by Ryan O’Hearn in Saturday night’s win over the Royals has been named the MLB Play of the Week. O’Hearn fielded a bunt by Michael Massey in the fifth inning, flipping the ball backward from his glove, between his legs to Brandon Eisert covering first to nip Massey at the bag. O’Hearn practices the move every day, he says, but this is the first chance he’s had to use it in a game.
